First Day of Spring Style

Happy First Day of Spring! Although the sun is shining outside, Harper is still under the weather so we are feeling a little on the gloomy side. There is nothing worse than a sick babe! Ok, I lied, there is. A sick babe, a 4am flight home to take care of her & your car breaking down on the drive home from the airport during rush hour is worse. Come onnnn. When it rains, it pours.
We hope to be on the up-swing soon, but in the mean time, we will still welcome Spring with open arms!

With warmer weather on it's way, here are some of our Spring style favorites! Seriously all of these bright colors & the comfy, casual style has me wishing once again that all of these came in my size! Can you just imagine adults running around in ruffle rompers? :)

Ladies with little dudes, you have it GOOD right now! I have been dying over all of the new Spring stuff for boys. In fact, I have been ordering a few boys items that look a little gender neutral, for Harper to wear! Including this Grey Terry Romper, I am obsessed!

Around the house, we have been doing a little spring cleaning & a lot of Easter decorating. With all of our new Target sippy cups (not to be confused with target practice sippy cups) & the fun Boon Grass Drying Rack, I feel like this has turned into it's own festive, spring-y corner of the kitchen!

I know many of you are still stuck in colder weather (I just broke out in song in my head as I typed that, ZBB, for the win) but Spring is just around the corner, so hang in there! And we will be doing the same. :)

Spring Decor

I have been obsessing lately over Target's Easter decorations, like big time. I have lurked in that aisle far too many times.  I knew that I wanted to decorate our entryway for spring, so I finally got a few things that matched the amazing yarn wreath that I picked up a few weeks ago & got to work! 

I just used a few old mason jars that we had & filled them with some branches from the back yard to hang the egg ornaments from.

 

It's colorful & it smells good (not to be confused with the made-up song "silly & she smells good," that we sing to Harper) ...everything that Spring decor should be! :)

Have no fear, this room is baby-gated off, so all is safe from little critter fingers.

Of course, our house is totally the MULLET of holiday decorating right now. Business in the front, party in the back. Easter in the front, St. Patty's in the back.

We are having a St. Patrick's Day Brunch & Green-Beerfest with some friends so this festive saying has to stay on the chalkboard until then. This has been made available as a print here if you love this Irish saying as much as I do! :)

Biggest BOO of the weekend? It was way too cold to do Harper's one year pics outside. Instead, we bundled up and helped dad hang some hammocks (plural! and more on that later) in our backyard early this morning! Her smirk here kills me. 

Do you SEE the effing hair outgrowth that I am dealing with from losing my hair after Harper was born?! A year later and I still have two inch antlers.

I also got started on the Easter basket this weekend after discovering all the awesome Dr. Seuss books that were on sale! This one totally looked Easter-ish to me. I got our magic lollipops, dug out the plastic eggs that I got on clearance last year (a whopping fifty cents instead of a dollar, score!) and found this sweater dress that we are OBSESSED WITH on sale, so I got it in every other size that we didn't already have. Triple BOOM.

We are about to soak up every last second of today, since this week will be filled with busy work schedules, business travel & one year shots.

Mama + Mini

Spring is my favorite time of year in terms of clothing. While I love cozy sweaters & leather boots just as much as the next person, cold Fall weather lands me in maternity leggings, old sweatshirts & my worn-in rain boots. Plus I end up blowing all my "fun money" on decorations so I always fall short in the wardrobe department. Spring, on the other hand, has me loving neon, chambray & polka dots more than ever!

Those sunglasses stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't get them in my cart fast enough! I can't wait to see them on Harper's little face. I would almost wear those myself if they came in adult size.

I am also in love with all of Target's Easter decor this year! Have you seen it?! The pastels & yarn are so gorgeous, they would make perfect nursery decorations as well! I picked up this yarn wreath the other day, it is so festive for spring!

I just listed this new Easter chalkboard print in my shop but had to erase the board already for my FAVORITE Irish Toast that will stay on the board until St. Patrick's Day!! :) The poor Easter decorations will only be out for two weeks, holidays this close together make my head spin.

It's going to look like a green-eggs-and-ham bomb went off in my house.

Harper's First Birthday Party!

It doesn't seem possible, but our sweet baby girl has officially turned one year old. I can hardly remember what life was like before her, she is our whole world. Time truly flies when you're having fun!

Happy Birthday, Harper Eve! You are the sweetest, silliest, most fun little girl in the whole world. You are so beautiful, your eyes & smile light up the room! This year has been incredible & we can't wait to see what each new day brings with you in it. We love you to infinity and beyond! 


We want to thank you all so much for the sweet comments about her first birthday!! We had such a blast celebrating with our friends & family, and this sweet little kiddo certainly enjoyed herself as well! Her birthday extravaganza was so much fun! I'm excited to finally share some pictures! :)

We went to town with our pink ombre theme & I think it turned out pretty perfect! We had subs catered so that we could put all the focus on the desserts. We had cupcakes, dipped strawberry wafer cookies & lots of pink cake! Little kiddos got to tote around pink paper cups full of cheerios & frosted animal crackers! :)

My ombre balloon vision was not all that I hoped it would be... looking at the pictures now I'm almost laughing at the outcome. 

Harper's outfit was my favorite part of the whole day!! I worked with some fantastic Etsy shops to help me make my vision come to life & I loved how it all turned out!! She was such a little ham running around in her tutu. Such a doll baby.

After she got to visit with all of the guests, it was smash cake time! She couldn't quite figure out why she had such an audience & the singing scared the shit out of her.

She didn't waste any time, as soon as we took the flaming pink candles out of the cake, she slapped her hand right on top. 

I had to sneak in and cut out a big piece so we could finally see how the pink ombre turned out! I made her cakes myself the night before. I actually just used two store bought white cake mixes for this one & added in this pink food coloring starting with the darkest mixture first. For the frosting, I also took the semi-easy-way-out and bought a big bag of buttercream icing from Publix! I used the same food coloring to make a few different shades of pink & then just went to town trying to frost it perfectly. It was a bit of a mess but I loved how it turned out. It was topped with this edible gold glitter.

She could not get enough of this cake, she smashed her face right into it!

Of course we were all dying just watching her chow down on her cake... and you better believe there were tears when I finally had to take it away. I swear she would have eaten the entire thing if I would have let her! I thought for sure we would be in for a pink ombre puke-a-thon after that hot mess.

At the end of the party, our guests took home mini bags of popcorn & cotton candy as party favors!

All in all, the party turned out to be so much fun & so very festive! I loved planning it & am already looking forward to next year! Thank you all again for all of the sweet birthday wishes to Harper! More to come on our Valentine's Day & Birthday Eve festivities! :) XOXO

Mama + Mini and Birthday Week!

You all know that I have sort of an obsession with matching Harper's outfits to mine. Or maybe it's the other way around. Either way, I LOVE IT.

Currently, I am obsessed with the teals/blues that are all over the place, so very springy & even festive just in time for St. Patty's Day! You all know I love a good scarf or belt to pair with just about anything. Including my pajamas. Hell, I'd sleep in my gold glitter belt if it wouldn't rub off all over the sheets! Speaking of that gold glitter belt, I can't wait to share the matching-ish outfits that we have planned for Harper's big birthday bash!! While I desperately wanted to wear a tutu like the one she will be rocking, I decided to tame it down a bit with just a maxi skirt.

But for now, it is BIRTHDAY WEEK, and our house has been taken over by gold glitter & pink ombre. And tissue paper. So. much. tissue paper.

We feel so blessed. And so ready to party.

All You Need Is Love

Hello, Valentine's Day card.

I love sending out Valentine's Day cards. I look forward to it even more this year since I failed to get our Christmas cards finished in time.

Now that she is bigger & can stand, I can't wait to take more pictures of her with our festive chalkboards! I really can't wait until I can bribe her with Fritos to sit still & smile too.

I got this little one piece romper at the Gap, it was literally on the site for a day & I couldn't scoop it up fast enough. It was so fitting for Harper's first Valentine's Day! Little chubby baby arms in tank tops?! I mean. Come on. I die over the cuteness.

Thank you all for the sweet comments on Harper's videos & for the encouraging words about my complex about her not kissing us. I read each & every comment on every post...  You all are the BEST & I LOVE YOU. I will be taking all of your advice, especially about kissing her stuffed animals to make her jealous! ;) Hopefully we will be getting kisses by the time she turns one!

Hello 2013

I hope you all are having a wonderful New Year! This week has been filled with lots of cleaning, organizing & jotting down endless notes about my New Year's resolutions!

Let's recap some BOOs & BOOMs of 2013 so far, shall we?

So far this year I have perfected the Iced Coffee on our new Keurig (I'm such a coffee snob... I need that shit strong & bitter as all get out). So we can chalk this up as a big BOOM! Also, we started the first season of Parenthood (which it seems like everyone I know raves about!) & Courgartown returns in just a few days. A stocked DVR or Netflix playlist is BOOM in my book!

On the flip side. It turns out that we have a family of squirrels living in our attic. A congregation, if you will. So I'm really looking forward to forking over a ton of money to get THAT taken care of. Insert sarcasm font here. BOO!

What I am looking forward to, is getting Harper's room back in order. We had fun decorating it for Christmas, but I miss the pinks & greys. I think she is looking forward to it as well.

Back to resolutions! Here is what I have so far.

1. Utilize my Pinterest recipe boards more! I get in a cooking rut all the time, I love to cook but I hate deciding what to make. I have a perfectly good resource for recipes, but always forget to use it. Who's with me?!

2. Stay organized. I sort of laugh at this since it's a resolution every year, BUT here is my strategy. I always think I need to document everything in excel, or in my phone or some other digital means. This year, I am going back to basics, with a notebook & pen. I am a visual person, I'm hoping this will work better for me.

3. Be the best, most fun, most festive, most loving mom & wife ever.

4. Wake up earlier so I have more time in my day to do some more ME stuff. I have unopened books that I am dying to read, endless chalkboard design ideas, DIY projects, letters/gifts/goodies to make & send to people and so much more. I get so caught up with things that I NEED to do, that I rarely have time for the little things that I want to do.

5. Expand my coffee cup collection  (Nevermind, my husband says this one doesn't count)

5. Lay off the Fritos.

There you have it! I am all over my resolutions this year & have big plans to rock them all. 

(Not going to be mad if I fail miserably at number five)
