Weekend Recap

 Hope you all had a fun & festive Cinco De Mayo weekend! I was excited to see so many of you on Instagram enjoying industrial sized beergaritas & giving your babes finger mustaches. Arriba!

Saturday, we ran some errands, Harper ate Chipotle for the first time & we shopped for bathroom accessories. All while in the pouring rain. I know, exciting business over here.

Harper had her first water table experience this weekend.  As soon as we got outside to play with it, mother nature laughed in my face & the temp immediately dropped ten degrees. So, we threw a sweatshirt on her & let her go to town. She surprisingly didn't try to drink out of it, but she promptly took dad's idiotic golf hat off his head & slam dunked it into the water. Well played, kid.

If you can't tell from that hilarious little gremlin smile, she was loving life.

Sunday night, we celebrated Cinco De Mayo with a fajita dinner, sans beergaritas.

H-bomb clearly wasn't as amused with our festive dinner as she was with the water table, but such is life.

And now for the exciting part!

We also finished our downstairs half-bath (for the most part) with the new navy paint! We used Deep Space by Behr & I LOVE how dark it turned out! You can see the before pictures in this post.

 I ended up getting lighter mint colored towels from Target, but haven't found a rug yet. I actually get a little grossed out by bathroom rugs, so I'm not opposed to not having one at all.

 We also changed out the light fixture (purchased here) with the same one that we put in our upstairs guest bathroom (shown below). I love the industrial look of it! We are still in search of a new, much smaller mirror, but overall I am happy with the update.

So what do you think? Do you think I am crazy for painting the smallest room in the house, the darkest color on the paint spectrum? :) I happen to love it. I am considering it as a possible choice for the guest room.

Birthday & Beergaritas.

 Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes & sweet comments on Instagram! You all made my birthday so extra special & I thank you all from the bottom of my heart! We had such a fun weekend, complete with a night out (whoa!) & a Cinco De Mayo themed birthday party.

 I ordered Harper the most festive purple one piece, hoping it would get here in time for the party, but of course, no such luck. So she wore her dress from Easter, which is easily one of the cutest dresses in the whole world. She had a blast running around with all the other little kiddos. 

She also had a very momentous occasion during the party, she had her first Frito!! ;) She only ate one (and loved it of course), but unfortunately I can't say the same. Those damn chips get me every time!

I am bummed that we didn't get any pictures of the Taco Bar, it was gone way too quickly, but it wasn't very pretty anyway. We stuck with paper plates & bowls for easy cleanup. Although smashing a giant pinata all over our porch totally defeated the purpose (we opted not to fill it with guac & put candy & mini plastic booze bottles inside instead). But it was a blast!

On to the good stuff. Beergaritas. They are SO. GOOD. I know there are a million names for these & probably even more recipes for them, but this is actually a drink that we started making probably four years ago when I first bought these giant glasses & we had some mini coronas leftover from our Cinco De Mayo Party.

The half-assed recipe goes something like this. Fill your blender 3/4 of the way full with ice, one frozen Minute Maid Limeade concentrate, one squeezed lime (just the juice) & as much tequila as you want. I used probably 1/4 of a regular size bottle of Jose Cuervo for each batch. (See why I suck at recipes?) Blend it. Rim your glass with salt. If your glasses won't hold a bottle of beer, you can just add the Corona to the blender, otherwise just tip it into the glass at the end. This works best if you can find mini Corona bottles! Each batch makes about four beergaritas, depending on how big you want them! :) And you'll want them big. Because they're delicious.

 I think we took my chalkboard saying quite literally & are now paying the price. Rule number one when you try to balance booze & babies... kids don't give an eff if you have a hangover.

Cinco De Mayo Party Planning

You knew it was coming. You didn't really think I could wait until 4th of July for another excuse for holiday fun, did you? :) We are having an early Cinco De Mayo Fiesta this weekend to celebrate my birthday. I bought an excessive amount of recycled-glass fishbowl margarita glasses on clearance a few years ago (you can find similar ones here) & I am ready to put them to good use!

As soon as I had a color scheme in mind, I had to order my staples right away, a festive garland & fun paper straws. We will be knee-deep in Beergaritas & soaking up the tequila with a taco bar, served on these awesome taco racks!

My husband suggested filling the pinata with guacamole. And he was dead serious. That's why he isn't in charge of party planning.

I love all of the bright colors that come along with Cinco De Mayo celebrations. These would be my picks for festive outfits to celebrate the occasion! :)

I haven't decided what I'm wearing yet (guess I gotta put away the dance pants for the night) but as soon as I do, I will have to quickly decide what to dress Harper in. Do you all remember her festive little photo from last year? I guess that can't really be topped.
